If you have a Facebook page for your business you should have a custom URL for it. You have to have 25 fans before you can get one. If you don’t have 25 fans, give me a call and I’ll help you boost that number. If you don’t have a custom URL then Facebook assigns a default address which is your page name (with hyphens for spaces) followed by a long string of numbers.

A shorter and neater URL will help you in a number of ways:

  1. It’s easier to remember.
  2. It’s easier to use in your marketing materials.
  3. It’s easier to tell your customers about.

Here’s how you do it.

From your Facebook page admin panel go to “Edit page” then “update page info”. The second item is “Facebook Web Address”. Click “edit” from the far right and enter the name you would like to use. You can use letters and numbers, but no spaces or special characters.

You’ll want to grab your custom URL soon if you have not because URLs, like any other web address, are unique. So if your business name is similar to any other business on Facebook you may find that your name is already taken. Also, you can only change it twice, so make sure you like the name you’re selecting.
